Cocoon Crèche

  • This programme is run under the Rajiv Gandhi National Crèche Scheme for the children of working mothers. The scheme is being implemented through the Central Social Welfare Board and the Indian Council for Child Welfare (ICCW).

  • The programme recognizes the fact that children need a happy, healthy, secure and nurturing environment to flourish.

  • Towards that end the Cocoon Crèche takes care of preschool education, nutrition and health of its children in a safe secure and loving environment.

  • All of these children come from disadvantaged sections of society. Most of their mothers work as domestic workers, construction workers, petty shop owners and some may be just ailing mothers unable to take care of their children.

  • The timings of the crèche are from 9:30AM to 4:30PM. Supplementary nutrition is provided in the crèche.

  • All crèche children undergo regular medical and dental check-up by registered doctors.

  • Periodic interactions are held with parents and families of children.

  • At present 30 children from Guddadahalli area in Bangalore, Karnataka attend the crèche regularly.

Objectives

  • To promote all round development of children under 3 years from low income families by providing a safe, healthy, loving, caring and wholesome environment.

  • To encourage basic discipline, hygiene, punctuality and regularity in attending crèches.

​

  • To develop healthy social skills in children  

 

  • To improve existing nutritional standard of the children by providing supplementary nutritious food

​

  • To assist working mothers to continue with their employment leading to higher standard of living.

​

  • To organize awareness and training programs for mothers in the area of maternal and child health, nutrition and child care techniques.

​

  • To allow the older children in the family to go to school instead of caring for the younger siblings.
