SEWAC-B, started a library in 2015 for children who do not otherwise have easy access to books. The Happy Library runs every weekday from 4:30 PM to 6:00 PM, in the school premises, under the supervision of a trained librarian. The idea is to inculcate the love of reading from an early age.
The books are colour coded to help children graduate from one level of books to another. The librarian keeps track of every child’s progress. New books are added on a regular basis.
5 to 10 children from different grades come to the library. e Wtry to promote reading books in English for the children who don’t have much exposure to the language. Volunteers encourage children to read and help them read.
Volunteers also come in for story-telling sessions or to hold activities like quiz and related games.
Events are organized to make reading fun and exciting. Children from the community have been responding very enthusiastically to this programme.
Become a volunteer and work directly with the children at a programme of your liking.
